BMW Motorsport Announces Z4 GT3
If you’re looking for more performance than the recently announced Z4 sDrive35is (pictured above) provides, then BMW Motorsport will soon have the Z4 for you. The company is preparing to sell a V-8–powered Z4 that’s ready to compete in GT3 racing.
Power comes from an M3-derived 4.0-liter V8, in this application pushing 480 hp through a six-speed sequential transmission. You also get ABS tailored for racing use, center-lock wheels, and the option of including air conditioning.
The car will be available to private race teams starting in 2010 and will be eligible for several different racing championships and endurance races. No pictures or U.S. pricing yet, but we do know that the European version will cost the equivalent of $425,500 before taxes.
